My Mindy Project: Week 8

Hey bloggers, welcome back to My Mindy Project. Don't know what I'm talking about when I say My Mindy Project? I'm slowly going through Mindy Kaling's "Questions I Ask When I Want to Talk About Myself" on this blog. I'm hoping to do one question a week for the entire year!

For those who have the set this week's card is:

And the question reads, "What's inside your dream gift bag?"

1. Of course, a Starbucks gift card, inside the Alice and Olivia mug. Because seriously, who knew the price would go up to $80 for a retired mug??

2. Some pretty Amy Butler fabric.
I just bought a few yards this week that I cannot wait to start working with!

3. A bouquet of freshly sharpened pencils, because they would have to know my favorite movie is You've Got Mail.

4. A puppy. Yes, a puppy. Bridesmaids fans will understand.

5. This gorgeous necklace. Because, come on, it's less than two dollars.

And let's be real here, these are dream gifts for any day of the year. I hope you're watching, future husband.
And now, I'm asking the same question to you bloggers, "What would be inside your dream gift bag?"

The Polyvore Files

Hello again, and welcome to The Polyvore Files link up! The rules are simple, in that there are no rules. Just get as creative as possible on Polyvore and come link it up with either myself or Joni. We'd love to have you!

Have you ever seen the most adorbs outfit on Pinterest and wondered how in the world could you pull it off? I'd say it probably happens to me on a daily basis. So while I was struggling to come up with a set this week, I decided to go to Pinterest for some inspiration. I found my favorite pin in the world and went off that. Here's the closest I could get:
H&M Lookalikes

I bet I know what you're thinking, "Oh great, another sponsored post." But nope! These opinions are all my own, simply because H&M is one of my favorite stores.
Now that I've written this post, I'm a little curious if anyone else does this. Have you ever created an outfit based on one you saw on Pinterest?

Sunday Social?

Hi favorite friends! While sitting here getting my post ready for The Polyvore Files, I thought just how much I've missed Sunday Social link ups. I haven't done it in probably two months or so, and I'm really excited to at least do today's. I checked the topic of the questions this week, and was immediately in love! Link up with Ashley or Neely if you're interested.

1. Favorite breakfast food? BAGELS. Not even a question. I love everything bagels, but I just discovered Bruegger's has a new rosemary and olive oil bagel that is so hard to resist. I even found my a recipe for them here that I'm dying to try.

2. Best way to spend a free day? Snuggled up in a bubble bath with a cup of tea watching Netflix. Yes, I watch Netflix in the bath.
3. Airline ticket to anywhere in the world, where would you go and why? Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Ew, right? Ha but my sister and her beautiful family is down there and I miss them more than anything. 14 hour drives are just too long.
4. You can only leave the house with one thing, what is it? My phone. I can sometimes do without my wallet, my purse, or a cute outfit. But I cannot go without my phone.
5. How do you take your coffee? I would try to explain it, but I think this just does better justice. Because who doesn't want a precious caterpillar mug?

My Mindy Project: Week 7

Hello everyone. I don't know if anyone noticed my break in My Mindy Project last week! I didn't want it to get lost in all the Valentine's Day madness, but I've allowed myself to miss two weeks this year. Don't know what I'm talking about when I say My Mindy Project? I'm slowly going through Mindy Kaling's "Questions I Ask When I Want to Talk About Myself."

Each week, I post a picture of the card and answer the following question. Seeing how this week, I couldn't find my phone to snap a picture of the card, I just thought I'd give you a creepy selfie of myself instead:

On the back, she goes to describe her days as a babysitter, and how she shouldn't talk about killing and babysitting in the same sentence. She then poses the questions:

"What was your experience as a babysitter?"
Let's be real. I was an awful babysitter. Honestly, my first time, I let a kid play outside for 5 hours. He was so sun blistered the next day, the mom would've fired me on the spot if she wasn't so desperate.
However, in my defense, some of the kids that I babysat were horrendous. I have this vicious memory of my neighbor refusing to go to bed and legitimately chasing me around the house with scissors. I called my mom crying, and begging for her to come over, but all she said was what great experience this could turn into. (It didn't.)
Fast forward to my next babysitting experience, a mom and dad leaving their 6 month old for the first time. She cried so hard the entire night that she threw up mucous on me (and my new pants!) multiple times in the night.
My last time babysitting seriously led me to call 911. Thank goodness, it was a false alarm, but I finally gave up babysitting from that moment on! (Keep in mind, this was about 6 months ago.)

"Did it inform how you felt about the possibility of becoming a parent one day?"
I wouldn't say these moments defined my future children and whether or not I'll be having them, but it certainly affected my choice to major in education. Seriously, what was I thinking? Props to all the teachers and future teachers out there, I have so much respect for them now!

The Polyvore Files: Orange?

Welcome again to The Polyvore Files, friends! If you want to link up, just grab a Polyvore set of anything and link it to the bottom.

Let's be upfront with each other here. No one looks good in the color orange.
Well maybe some people, just not pale people like me.

Anyways, while trying to keep things discreet, I'm looking for summer internships to grow my experience and skills. The company I'm most excited to apply for loves the color orange. So I've been sitting over here for the last few weeks trying to get my application video ready, and looking for the perfect orange outfit. After seeing the skirt at Target, I knew it wouldn't be hard to find an outfit around it!

Also, one of my favorite verses, and perfect for the current stage of my life.
What do you think of my outfit? Is the chambray shirt a wrong choice? I can't decide if I'm completely sold on it yet!

DIY Galentine's Gift

All the single ladies (pun intended) at my work did a drawing for a secret Valentine. Or should we say Galentine?
(Yes, I used my favorite show to celebrate.)

I got my good friend Courtney and knew something like this was perfection. I was able to put together this little kit for her:
I might not be completely done decorating it though.

Here's everything that went in. We had a $15 limit and I think I did pretty well considering!

It was super easy to put together and would go great as a last minute gift. I can't wait to see her face when she gets it!

The Polyvore Files

Hello there bloggers! I must say, I've fallen into a bit of an unhealthy habit this week. I've been obsessing and lusting and drooling over designer clothes that I cannot afford, namely Tory Burch and Lilly Pulitzer. And since Polyvore is secretly all about wanting what you can't have, I decided to use this week's Polyvore Files post to fall even more in love with these beauties.
Are you new to this blog and don't know what The Polyvore Files is? It's a link up that the lovely Joni and I co-host every week, where you can post whatever Polyvore set you might have. If you're interested, come link up with us below!

My Mindy Project: Week 6

Hello loves, welcome to week 6 of My Mindy Project. My Mindy Project is a year long challenge to myself to answer all 50 questions asked in Mindy Kaling's  Questions I Ask When I Want to Talk About Myself.
Here's my card of the week:

On this card, Mindy writes a hilarious list of what movies she thinks will be coming out soon. And let's just say, she wasn't too far off with Shark vs. Volcano.

She then asks, "What's your favorite awesomely bad movie?"
I have a few favorites that are always guaranteed to be in the $5 bin at WalMart, but some of the cheesy ones are some of the best!

One of my absolute favorites is Win a Date with Tad Hamilton. Maybe just because it has Josh Duhamel. But it is kind of hilarious.

Another one that I used to LOVE, that I haven't seen in a few years was Love Wrecked. It was way back before Amanda Bynes hit whatever phase she's going through now, when she was still on of the funniest comediennes ever.

So bloggers, what about you? What are your favorite tacky movies? Have you ever seen either of these?

The Polyvore Files: Super Bowl Sunday!

Good morning bloggers! Welcome to the Super Bowl Sunday version of The Polyvore Files. This year I'm not personally interested in either team. Although, I must say, I've always secretly had a thing for the Seahawks colors. I'll probably root for them just a tiny bit while wearing my neon green and navy blue. Speaking of what colors I'll be wearing tonight, what I'm really curious to know is what colors you'll be wearing.

My Mindy Project: Week 5

Hello again, I'm on week 5 of "My Mindy Project", where I'll be working my way through Mindy Kaling's 50 Questions I Ask When I Want to Talk About Myself:

This week's card is, as always, hilarious:
I think we can all agree that we've been at that phase at some point in our life, whether we like it or not!

And my question is:
"If you could transport one element of a fancy spa into your everyday life, what would it be? Heated towels, cucumber water, or free mini cupcakes?"
I would gladly take a steam room/sauna in my house, with big fluffy robes, and herbal teas, with the goofy relaxing music everyone hates.

And today's a lucky day where our card has two questions. Leading me into:
"How much would you spend on a spa day?"
I've only been once in my entire life, and just for a massage. But I know that we get 25% off the spa services at the resort I work at. I keep forgetting to take advantage of it though! I honestly couldn't see myself spending more than $50 though, and only on really special occasions.

How much have you personally spent on a spa day? Am I crazy or in the norm here?
