I have never sewed a stitch in my life, but I've fallen in love with Pinterest tutorials and bloggers I've been following. So when Black Friday rolled around, I decided to pick up this cutie for $50!
For some strange reason, I decided to wait until after my grandmother had left town to try and figure it out. I got my thread and new Amy Butler fabric and was ready to get going. I read the first few pages of the manual that detailed and diagrammed each part. I knew each and every knob and lever on that machine. Ready to thread it, I tried to follow the precise step-by-step instructions.
Let me just tell you now, it was so crazy! I was feeding the thread in all kinds of wrong spots and couldn't follow the simple diagrams. About an hour in, I got to the point where I was almost positive it would work. It had to after all the work I put into it.
I don't have a clue what happened but in multiple tries, I had either excess thread or absolutely no thread in areas. In the simplest way of putting it, I learned how to punch teeny tiny holes into paper. In the end, I gave up and decided to watch Horrible Bosses with a big plate of brownies. I shall learn one day soon though, I swear!
50 bucks for a sewing machine is not bad! I want to get a sewing machine, but I haven't found any good deals on them yet. I don't know how to sew that well, but I did have to learn in one of my Theatre classes in college. We had to learn how to thread the machine and boy oh boy I hated that part. It was hard for me to get it down. And even when I finally figured it out I would still usually just pick a different machine if the one I chose was out of thread, haha!
