It's About Time

that I post again! Holy crap, I've been a bad blogger! And only coming back for a WIWW post kinda doesn't count, but kinda does too, right? Between my two jobs, an internship (which is amazing and deserves its own post in the near future), and school, blogging has kind of taken a turn on the back burner.

I have a teensy confession to make: I almost skipped class yesterday. I got out of bed at 8:30 (to leave at 8:45), started my cup of coffee, did my daily entries for the HGTV dream home, and snuggled up with my pup. I wasn't even considering class at that point. Then I looked at the clock, said to myself in a kind of yelly fashion, "Kara, get your lazy butt out of bed, put on that super cute outfit (that you picked out for work two days ago and never wore), and get yourself to this class you paid $2500 to take."All in all, the class didn't work out in my favor. Due to a silly technical difficulty, my attendance didn't count, so I totally could've stayed in bed. But instead, I took two pages of notes, made a new friend, and got to wear my super cute outfit.

As I'm sure you can guess, most of my outfit is from American Eagle, as always! But with a 40% discount, it's seriously all I buy anymore. Never, ever work in retail if you want to actually save your money for things other than clothes. (And yes, it took me straightening my hair twice to get rid of my bed head and it still turned out crazy!)

Sorry I've been slightly absent lately! I pinky promise to be back Friday with my H54F post. Have a glorious rest of the week bloggers! :)

Sunday Social

Sunday socials are starting to become the norm around this blog. I can't say that I hate it. ;) Have you met Ashley or Neely yet? They're actually pretty great and host this fun little link up of 5-6 random questions every week!

Sunday Social
1. Top 3 favorite kinds of food
  • First and foremost, my grandmother's grilled cheese. Cracker Barrel's sourdough bread, and thick slices of Land o' Lakes white American cheese. Yes, it might be a heart attack waiting to happen, but it's the yummiest thing I've ever put in my mouth!
  • Secondly, now that I've drooled all over you, cheese pizza, light sauce, stuffed crust. (picky eater over here!)
  • Third, I'm really getting into edamame lately. So yummy and healthy! I just don't understand it!
2. First 3 things you do in the morning
  • Usually first thing, my sweet sweet baby boy wakes me up and I get to feed him. Have you met my puppy/almost 4 year old yet?

  • Then I make myself a cup of coffee. I used to make 2, but then I got an expensive Keurig and had to start monitoring myself. It's ok though, because I just ordered the little refillable cup so I can make as much as I want now!
  • Check Instagram/Blogger/Facebook/Twitter... No, I am not addicted to technology. #justkiddingialwayswillbe

3. Last 3 things you do at night
  • Brush my teeth, duh!
  • Snuggle close with Colston. He loves sleeping in between my legs!
  • Watch an episode of whatever show I'm on at that time. Right now it's How I Met Your Mother, but I'm getting close to the end again!
4. 3 TV shows you NEVER miss
  • How I Met Your Mother
  • Big Bang Theory
  • Parks and Rec
I could list like 80 more (especially on HGTV alone), but luckily for you, it only asked for 3. ;)

5. 3 places you want to visit
  • Greece
  • DisneyWorld!
  • Washington DC
6. 3 people you can always count on
  • My sister
  • My mom
  • My dad
Of course I'm just going to use family on that. They're all so amazing and took such amazing care of me while I was living in Louisiana. Love you!

Making Perfect Magnets

Having recently moved, I didn't have any perfect magnets ready for our cute little refrigerator. Of course, when I saw this easy little magnet project floating around the internet, I knew I had to go for it. I grabbed 5 magnets from our local pizza joint and went to work. Here's everything you'll need for the little project:

Once you have all your supplies together, it is super easy to peel back the actual advertisement part of the magnet.

Measure out the paper to match the size of the magnet. Mine was 2x6 inches so I used my paper cutter to make it the same size.

After cutting your paper, apply a very generous amount of Mod Podge to the paper on the magnet. And if you don't have a paintbrush, totally feel free to dip your finger in. ;)

Apply the paper directly on top of the magnet, and BOOM. Perfectly cute little magnets:

I'm definitely considering adding some Cricut elements to spice them up a bit. I'd love to know if you tried them out. They're so fun and easy to make!

Tuesday 10!

I'm sure you've all met Lena by now. She's the super awesome mom with tattoos and a great outlook on life. You know who I'm talking about? Just in case you don't, here's the link to her profile. Seriously go follow her, and then link up with her Tuesday 10s! They are the perfect prompt to get you in the mood to blog. Today's prompt is your 10 dream jobs. As a college student figuring life out, I'm super excited to share all this with you! We're gonna start with the somewhat realistic ones and go from there.

Something I seriously love about graphic design, is all the stinking options it'll give me once I graduate school. However, these are ranked in the order I would actually want to do them.

1. Win the lottery and never ever have to work ever again. Totally realistic for someone who doesn't even play the lottery.

2. Website/blog designer who illustrates children's books and makes super cute prints like Diana on the side. This is actually my exact goal upon leaving school. Yeah, I'm kind of crazy.

3. Someone who does the graphics and illustrations for cartoon movies. Especially Christmas movies. I would LOVE to make Christmas movies. You would think I'd know what that's called.

4. This one's a little silly, but have you ever seen Aerie's undies? They're just so cute, and the fabrics are so fun and colorful. I'd actually really love to design them. But if it means moving to their headquarters in Pennsylvania (yuck!), I might have to change my mind.

5. App developer. Hook me up with your great ideas. ;)

6. The person who designs the games on the back of cereal boxes. I hear they make some serious paper.

7. Something in advertising. Probably somewhere along the lines of logo making and flyer involvements. This one actually sounds the most boring to me surprisingly.

8. Coffee shop owner. All the free coffee I want? Definitely a good option.

9. An international flight attendant on the planes my husband flies. Free vacations every week? Oh yeah.

10. And then of course, the stay at home mom. I think this is so far down, just because I don't have kids yet. I'm sure when the time comes, this will seriously be all that I want to do.

Decorating Your Home with Target Clearance

Moving sucks! I've been busy all week unpacking, and ignoring my blog. I was so shocked when I saw Sunday was my last time posting, so hopefully this post super makes up for it!

Alright guys, can we please agree that Target just rocks our socks off? And when Target has clearance, you kinda can't refuse. Most importantly, their Christmas collection this year was amazing! I had my little wish list up on my blog this year, and here's how most of it turned out. Some stuff is still in boxes sadly, but I'm so ready to break them out!

In this picture, the plates cost me about $3, the pitcher $8, and the deer head was $15.

This is probably one of my favorite projects I've ever tackled. I got the polka-dotted wrapping paper for $5, but with a giftcard! Then I mod podged it to the top of the dresser. It was actually way more simple than I would've hoped.

So this was set up in my old apartment, but the squirrel and two trunk vases have yet to find a place in my home.

Those are just a few of the amazing things I've unpacked in the past 2 weeks I've been here. I seriously can't wait to post a picture of how my bed comes out. So many decorative pillows and even more Target clearance to come!

Sunday Social: Resolutions

1. Do you plan to change any of your eating habits in the new year?
I actually already have! Seeing how I live on my own now, it's only time to buy healthy, and therefore cheaper, foods. Why hello apples, wheat bread, salads, and chicken.

2. Any workout tips to get us back in shape after the Holidays?
Ummm, get off your lazy butt and do something?
That's more advice for myself. But we'll see how that goes.

3. What is your favorite thing you did over the Holidays?
There are too many things I loved this holiday season. First, I was given a nephew and that rocked. Then I moved halfway across the country. Then I got a new(ish) car. Then I got a freaking puppy. It's all around just been a great way to kick off 2013.

4. What is something you hope that you accomplish in 2013 that you did not in 2012?
Nothing really. Maybe meet my future husband, but we'll leave that up to God.

5. Name 3 things happening this year you are excited about and why.
1. Starting school. I've hated these two years off, and I literally mean hated.
2. Being able to attend my old church again. Moving back to Charlotte has finally allowed for that to happen. It is the only church that's really ever felt like home to me.
3. Being around old friends and reconnecting. I've already been able to hang out with some of my very best friends in my short week here, and it's been so fun!

Happy, happy new year bloggers!!

New Year, Kinda New Kara

This week has been nuts
On New Year's Eve, I moved to a new(ish) city, abandoned my horrible car for finding a new one, got a new puppy, met my great new roommates, and got to hang out with new and old friends. It was so crazy for all in one day! From 2012 to 2013, I woke up to an entirely new life.
Colston and I chilling in our new apartment before bed
This really does mean a New Year for me, and almost a new Kara to that extent. I have to be truly independent for the first time in my life, and it terrifies me. I'm totally supposed to be on my job hunt by now. However, I'm not going to forget 2012 and everything amazing that it brought me! In 2012, I learned to rely fully on God, even if it can be really scary. I learned to say goodbye, especially to my 6 week old nephew! Hardest thing. I learned that graphic design is 100% what I want to do, and it scares the crap out of me. I learned what will truly make me happy, and that's what 2013 is going to be all out.

And what's a good New Year's post without those pesky resolutions? ;)
1. No unnecessary spending. Paying those big bills now!
2. Organization in every aspect of my life.
3. Prepare myself for the man God has for me.
4. Get some kind of amazing internship, but hopefully with Give Fifty One!
5. Work on prints for an Etsy shop.
This one is super terrifying because I'm still very shy with my work, but Diana is such an inspiration!

I want to hear your resolutions too! Leave them in the comments or send me the link to your profile. I so missed catching up with my bloggers this week. :)
