My Worst Traits

Your top 3 worst traits:
This post was surprisingly fun to make! I've been doing so much playing around in Illustrator this week and decided to simply illustrate my top 3 worst traits. Maybe it'll make them a bit easier to accept? If not, at least it'll prove to you how true that first trait is!

So there we have it. I hope yall enjoyed this post as much as I enjoyed making it! Only a few days left of blogging every day in May!

Personal S'mores Pies

I'm cheating a tiny bit today. Since today's blogging topic is "Get real. Share something you're struggling with right now," I've decided to skip it. I wrote a very similar post just a few days ago! So instead, I'm posting a recipe creation to make your heart melt!
I used the apps DipTic and LabelBox to make this picture!
Kinda skipped the most important step! Preferably using a toaster oven, set the temperature to 350, and set it in for 3-5 minutes. Just long enough to brown the top marshmallows to your flavoring.

Blog Love!

Five of your favorite blogs and what you love about them:

This post was easy-peasey. I was able to think of these five blogs in seconds, but not because of the blogs themselves, but the lovely ladies behind them. I found their blogs, which eventually led to me finding their Instagrams, which can prove just how great these ladies are. I'd add pictures, but then that'd discourage you from checking them out, right? Apologizing now for the link overload about to come your way. ;)

First up, we've got Paige from Artsy Anthropology. She's a goofy, fun loving girl who has such an amazing handmade shop, three of them to be exact (Critters, Storenvy, and Etsy). How in the world she can keep up with it while going to school and working another job is way beyond me. She's such an inspiration! IG: @artsyanthro

Then secondly, we've got Chelsea from Sunny with a Chance of Sprinkles. She has such an amazing story of unplanned parenthood that you'll probably be in tears when you see how sweet their family is. IG: @_sunnysprinkles

Third on the list is Lena from Lena B Actually. She's this amazing tattooed, rocker mom from Canada who has such a deep love for her children! IG: @lenabactually

Fourth is Alyson from Vintage Sunshine. She's amazing in SO many ways, but her hoop art makes me go insane! I wish I was anywhere near as good as she is! IG: @vintage_sunshn

And last, but never least, is Kara from Mine for the Making. And yes, I only started following her because we have the same name. But from there, I've loved watching her crafts, homeschool projects, and recipes like you wouldn't believe! IG:@kara_mineforthemaking

So there we have it! Five lovely ladies that you cannot miss out on!

That Time I Got Accused of Taking Prescription Drugs

Tell a story from your childhood.
I am an amazingly shy individual. That's changed a lot as of the past 2 years or so, but wow, my past was awkward! Being this shy child, I never really spoke up for myself, was scared to talk to my teachers, and didn't understand that people are generally nice. However, that's because I was accused of taking prescription drugs in second grade! (Not really, but it makes the story more dramtic. ;)

In the second grade, I was taking a light prescription drug for some recent stomach pains I'd been having. I think they were just a strong laxative in all honesty. Anyways, we had quite a few different teachers after my teacher quit, and it made it quite hard to keep up with who knew about my meds. One day in class, with yet another sub, I knew it was 9:00 and that I had to take my pill. Trying to sneak it, I got caught. I tried my hardest to explain what they were for and that my original teacher knew I took them, but still I got sent to the principal's office. Anyways, she called my mom who tried to explain, but it was pretty hopeless at that point. She threw them away and my mom tried to explain to me why I couldn't take them anymore!

Cheers to the Freaking Weekend

A favorite photo of yourself and why:
This is one of my most recent favorites. It's just so summery, and of course my favorite picture has to include my dog! It might have even been my first day this year in a tank top.
I don't know about yall, but I have been looking forward to this weekend like crazy, but NOT for crazy Nascar traffic-y reasons. Have a blessed few days!

I Should've Graduated this Weekend

Something difficult about your "lot in life" and how you're working to overcome it.

So pretty much any time I've seen today's topic, I've wanted to go watch A Bug's Life directly after. Why, you ask? Oh wait, you didn't ask but I'm going to tell you anyways?
"It's the same year after year, they come, they eat, they leave; that's our lot in life. It's not a lot, but it's our life."

Anyways, so the difficulty about my lot in life. I took a year and a half off school when I moved to Louisiana. Then I moved back to North Carolina, and now I'm an out of state student. It's a horrendous amount of money for an out of state student, compared to in state, so I'm taking yet another semester off in the fall. Then I actually have to apply and turn in a portfolio and hope that I get into my major in the spring. And if not, then I'll need a fall back career, which I haven't decided upon yet. Basically it's all really scary and up in the air, and I won't be able to graduate for another 2 (or more) years. Where if I had just stayed in North Carolina, I would've graduated this past weekend instead. I know I had a reason for moving to Louisiana when I did, but I honestly can't remember it.

PS Today is Melissa's birthday! And she did graduate this weekend. Go congratulate her and tell her how much you love her!!

It's Happy Here!

Eek! I skipped another day of blogging every day. I really didn't know what to write for yesterday's prompt, so I just chickened out and skipped it. But seriously guys, 12 out of 14 days so far? I'm doing way better than I would've imagined. Today's prompt is Ten Things that Make You Really Happy, and here it is!

Happy Mother's Day (Free Printable!)

My mother makes quite a bit of fun at my expense for my coffee addiction.

Today's blogger prompt is What do you miss? (a person, a thing, a place, a time of your life...)

And how ironic that it falls on Mother's Day?! My mother and I live a good 7 hours from each other, and it can be really hard sometimes. In stressful situations, sometimes a phone call just isn't enough. I'd love a hug and a pat on the back to tell me everything's going to be okay. However, she and I have totally different agendas, and while Kentucky might be home to her, I don't think I'll ever hear it calling my name. (Sorry Mom! ;) I hope she knows just how much I love her and am SO sad that I can't be with her on her special day!

#imanembarrassment

Most embarrassing moment(s). Spill.
(I seriously use that hashtag far too often on Twitter.)

Backstory: at my lifeguarding job, the supervisors test us with a dummy named Timmy. We HATE Timmy. He's usually 5 feet underwater and its really scary and nerve racking. Here the little monster is:

Really crappy quality I found on google.

Anyways, if you're super observant (and the park isn't that busy) you can usually see the supervisor swimming with him. After making a mistake on a previous test, I had to beast my next one. I see my supervisor kinda chilling in the water with Timmy in her hands. I look away in my scanning pattern, and when I return Timmy is no longer in her arms.

I immediately blow my whistle and jump in with crazy urgency. My supervisor stares me down like I'm crazy. Apparently, she didn't actually drop the doll. He was just below the surface still in her arms. And 5 other guards were standing there watching. I don't think I've ever been laughed at so hard in my life.

What's your most embarrassing story?

A Moment in Your Day

A moment in your day (this can be just a photo or both a photo and words).
Skyping with sister is my favorite activity ever. Especially when my dog is snuggling so cute in the process!

Wear. Dresses. Often.

A piece of advice you have for others. Anything at all.
Three simple words: Wear. Dresses. Often.
I don't know about yall, but dresses make my day so much happier. And it's such an easier way to plan your outfit! No worrying about matching shorts and tops, just one precious dress and boom you're ready. This is one of my most favorite dresses in the whole wide world, and it's pretty obvious why, right? ;)

Terrifying!

Yep, I've already missed a day of blogging every day in May. Pretty sad, but it's totally understandable once I tell you today's topic: The thing(s) you're most afraid of (for this week at least).
What in the world does that have to do with skipping blogging?
Finals week.

My final is Thursday, and I'm determined to kick butt, hence this super short post. Here's a picture of where I'll be spending the next couple of days.
UNC Charlotte Belk Tower, I'll be in the library to the left though. ;)

Have a blessed day or two!

Home is with You

Publicly profess your love and devotion for one of your blogger friends.
Oh man. Just picking one favorite blogger friend was SO tricky! I'm going to have to say Mallorie from Home is with You, though.

Which is funny, because she and I are hardly close at all. But that sweet girl was the first blogger who ever added my personal facebook account. It opened up a whole new world of blogging to be even better friends with those around you! She added me when she was moving only an hour from my home, but, sadly, about a month later she moved! Read all about her crazy lifestyle here! And make sure you follow that girl's Instagram (@mallorieowens) because she has some serious talent!

Favorite Quote!

Today's blogger challenge on the list is our favorite quote and why we love it.
This right here is my favorite verse in existence. As a kid, my dad and I used to read a devotion together every night. I remember one night, he came in my room, sat down and read this verse to me. Still my favorite verse to this day! Might not technically count as a quote, but we'll ignore it. :)

Well This is Awkward...

Actually no, let's not.
Today's topic for blogging is things that make you uncomfortable. In all honesty, people who come up to me talking about their sex lives, how many people they've done, and what sick horrible diseases they have from doing these things kinda freaks me out. And by kinda, I mean a whole dang out. And of course, it can get even more awks based on the amount of time that I've known that person. For example, someone I work with straight up asked me if I was a virgin within our first week of knowing each other. He was talking about how intimate he and his girlfriend were, could tell I was uncomfortable, and somehow felt it necessary to ask. I immediately clammed up. I couldn't believe that this guy I barely knew was asking me such a personal question! Seriously though, what would you have done?

Typography!

Educate us on something you know a lot about or are good at.
(Don't know what I'm talking about? Check out the button below!)
I am in love with fonts. I can literally spend hours going through Pinterest's design section just downloading the crap out of them. (Don't believe me? Just check out my design board!) Instead of educating you on them, I thought I'd just make a compilation of some of my favorites!
Hope you enjoy! Use responsibly. ;)

Blog Every Day?!

I'm not going to lie. When I first saw the Blog Every Day in May challenge, I thought Jenni must have been joking. I went to her blog and read up on it. And seriously guys, I really think it has the opportunity to pull me out of my blogger rut. She has perfectly designed prompts to help inspire our writing and we get to link up everyday and meet other bloggers writing about the same things as us! So without further ado, the story of my life in 250 words or less.

As you can tell, my life story is kinda complicated. I sat down last night so many times trying to write this post, but it kept getting weird. And of course, my timeline doesn't explain important details like my family, my salvation, or why I moved SO many times. I'm really sad that Sarah isn't blogging anymore, because she used to have posts every Monday called "Missionary Kid Monday." Seriously, I could relate with like 95% of her content. Here's the funny thing though, I've moved so many times, and I've traveled all over this country (25/50 states!), but you can totally notice a trend. I moved to Louisiana in 2011 because it was my sister's home. I was bored in North Carolina, so I decided to pick up my entire life and move to my sister. Let me just tell you, there is a huge difference in how a 12-year-old views Louisiana and how a 21-year-old views Louisiana. Now I'm not trying to say it's the worst place in existence, but personally, I wasn't happy there. Needless to say, North Carolina is my home, for now at least. :)

Make sure you check in on me occasionally throughout the month. I'm going to be trying really hard to keep up with this challenge!
