Phone Photo Fun

I got my iPhone just a few weeks ago. I've been in love with this link up for quite some time now, but I keep forgetting to get it together. Without further ado, here are my fun phone photos from the week:

My perfect boyfriend got me a Keurig for our one year
anniversary! And let me have it 2 days early. I love him.

I learned to write my name in Thai! My new friend put the
dots there for me to trace.

Injured my knee on the awful job I just quit. See my last post!

Entered the Instagram city contest from Livy Love!

Found these precious matching mugs at my boyfriend's
parent's house!
It was a pretty fun week! Link up with Savannah so I can see your pictures too!
And I wouldn't be opposed if you wanted to come follow me on Instagram: snugly_duckling. I almost always follow back!

Also, please keep in mind everyone who has lost their life fighting for their country. Over 6,000 Americans have died in Iraq and Afghanistan since 2003. My church yesterday gave us a statistic yesterday that really hit close to home. 119 men and women from my home state have given their lives in order to protect their friends and family. Just remember today to pray for the families and loved ones of those who have lost someone.

Why I Quit the Job I Loved

Warning: This post is long and not very well organized. If you skip over a few parts, I won't be offended, but please read the ending. I want your advice!

I've been looking around for a variety of jobs. I'm really going for anything where I can sit down since I have scoliosis and am in pain like 75% of my time awake. I found one that I immediately loved! It paid $9/hr and in my interview the manager suggested he wanted to move me into management as soon as possible. I met some fun people working the front desk and I hope we will still keep in touch.

Things went sour very quickly though. I kept getting scheduled for shifts getting off at 11pm, when I specified the morning shifts. When I asked about it, they kept saying I'd see it on the next schedule. Never happened. That's just the first problem.
Second problem: I didn't get paid for the first two pay periods, and the amount on my check for the month was $300 short.
Third problem: I was required to lie about our policies on a nightly basis, and by doing so, people were forced into smoking rooms. Two faces that particularly stood out: a pregnant woman and her child, and a much older gentleman with asthma. If I didn't put them in though, I was sure to be yelled at.
Fourth: Remember that management position they offered me in the interview? They filled it after continually bringing it up to me.
Fifth: People have been working there for 3 years without a single raise!!
Sixth: They made the schedule for the weekend on Thursday. Therefore, making plans with friends became impossible.
Seventh: Requesting days off was a nightmare. I didn't find out if I had gotten off my requested days for a weekend trip until that Thursday, and guess what? I didn't get the days off.

So yes, all in all, this was enough to make me want to quit, the reasoning behind my very short and to the point 2 weeks you might've seen in my last post.

And if all that wasn't enough for you, just wait until you hear about the last 24 hours.

9:30pm: I put in a call to housekeeping for a guest who called down. No answer.
9:40: Same call, no answer. Try about 3 more times. Nothing.
10:00: Tell my manager I can't find her. He lies to me saying her car isn't in the parking lot so she must've left and just quit while using some choice language.
10:15: Other manager who actually cared, told me her car was still there and was gravely concerned with her safety.
10:30-11: My boyfriend comes over to escort me to my car so who knows what didn't happen to me.
9am Saturday: I call to check in on the situation and not a single person knows what I'm talking about. Managers or anything.
9:30: Strongly considering not going in for my night shift for my safety.
Noon: Start feeling very faint, nauseous, every kind of sick you can imagine. I have only called into work two times in my past 5 years of work. If I'm calling in sick, it's not a pretty picture.

Now this is where I get REALLY upset. I call in sick for the night, following company procedure, and get yelled at in every way imaginable. The general manager starts telling me how irresponsible and unprofessional I was (by following company procedure). She yells at me for at least a full minute without breaking. I literally break into tears for trying to take a sick day, when there were more than enough people on the schedule for the night. While doing my best to stifle the tears, she hangs up on me.

So what I've decided the appropriate response to this is:
I'm going to email this woman a nice little letter, straight up telling her that not only was I concerned for my safety, but that the way she treated me was hurtful. And as a result, I would not be finishing my two weeks.

So bloggers, my question to you: how would you handle my situation? Am I over/under reacting? Have you ever had a similar situation? Let me know!

High Five For Friday!

Hello bloggers! Hope all is going well with you. I haven't gotten a lot of time to catch up on your blogs lately, but that's all about to change. I'm going back to some better hours in the future and will have time to see everyone I've missed so dearly! Here's my top five highlights for the week:

1. Remember the new job that I "loved"? I now find it the worst job I've ever had, and that's coming from someone who's worked at Chuck E. Cheese. There will be a nice post on that coming up this week. On the bright side, I quit yesterday! There is just something so satisfying about turning in a two weeks notice at a job you can't stand.

2. I got to spend some quality time with this pup this week! Is it bad that I post so many pictures of my sister's dog/my future dog? I just love him!

3. I found this gem while looking through my sister's wedding photos this week! It's me with the groom (my boyfriend's brother), and my boyfriend with the bride (my sister). Confused by that? Read our love story.

4. I've spent all week watching my favorite show while laying on my heating pad, when not working of course. It's just the perfect way to unwind.

5. Since I'm switching jobs, I'll have so much more time for everything. Especially embroidering, I miss it so much! I know I say this all the time, but I can't wait to open my shop for everyone to see!

Mug Swap!!

Did you hear about the mug swap going on at Susan's blog?
I got matched up with the great Lauren from Pink on the Cheek. I've followed her for quite some time now, and have just been in love with her blog.
Let me just say though, I am the worst procrastinator on the planet. I cannot tell you how many times I forgot and remembered and forgot again to get my mug for Lauren. About two weeks ago, we were passing the mugs in Target and while browsing around, I found the cutest mug. I was trying to think of any excuse to buy it. Suddenly remembering Lauren, I snatched it up, grabbed a bag of fantastic Louisiana coffee and headed to the check out. You can see pictures of what I sent her on her blog.

Then about 3 days later, I received this little cutie in the mail!
I was so glad to see that I'm not the only procrastinator around here. Kidding.
I love it so much and have already used it twice. Just wait until I get my Keurig at the end of the month! It'll get way more uses then, for sure!

Sorry I've been missing in action lately. I've got a whole new work schedule and I'm still trying to adjust my schedule where I can blog too! I promise more posts coming up this week!

iPhone DIY Case

Guess what bloggers? I've finally become an iPhone owner! Boyfriend decided to make the evil switch to android. However, his switch to the dark side meant that I got a free iPhone! I saw this super cute idea a few months ago on Pinterest and couldn't wait to try it out. Sorry I didn't save the link!

It's super easy to do. All you'll need is:
a clear iPhone case ($10 on amazon)
 cute paper
 a pencil
 x-acto knife
and an optional ruler

Step 1: Pick out your paper. If you're like me, this is a crazy hard process.

2. Trace around your phone. I'm sure they have templates online somewhere, but my internet was down during the process.
Sorry it's hard to see! I'm still trying to figure everything out!

3. Cut away with your x-acto knife. Make sure you leave a hole for your camera!
This is where the ruler comes in handy!

4. Insert the paper into the case.
Don't worry about tape. The phone will hold it in place.

5. Put your phone in the case and take dorky pictures posing with it.

My favorite part of this DIY is that there are endless possibilities. With all the papers, washi tape, and stickers out there, you can personalize it however you want. Let me know if you try it. I'd love to see all your beautiful creations!

And remember, Friday is the last day to enter this giveaway!

Tickle Me Tuesdays

This week, I've been obsessed with chevron. I see it everywhere and cannot wait to have some of these great chevron things when I move. Speaking of moving, I finally found a roommate! She's not quite as ready to move out as I am, but at least that will give me time to save a little money before jumping out there. Anyways, all that being said, here are the great chevron things I hope to fill our apartment with:

Minus the big giraffe, this is exactly how
I'd want my room to look.
How precious is this pillow?!
I love, love, love how classic the floor makes this room look!

PS Make sure you enter this great giveaway! It ends Friday!

High Five For Friday!

Good afternoon bloggers! Let's see the highlights of my week, shall we?

1. I got my computer fixed! It wasn't anything major, just an ugly eyesore.
Does this happen to anyone else? Apple fixes it for free! (Unless you're like my dad and have a "vintage" Apple. Poor thing.) And I got all new keys in the process. She looks brand new!

2. I got to sleep over at my sister's house a few times this week and spend some amazing time with this cutie:
His name is Colston and he'll be mine as soon as I move out!!

3. I officially started collecting sponsors this month. It was so much more organization than I imagined. I've definitely learned a lot from my first month and will be able to improve for next month! See here and here to check them out!

4. I went to Target and the mall this week and didn't spend a single penny on clothes. That is a huge accomplishment in my eyes.

5. And in the spirt of saving the best for last, my boyfriend bought me this beauty yesterday for our anniversary present!
He's kinda great, don't you think? I just have to wait 25 days to get it! Any ideas on what K-Cups I should be stocking up on in these next few weeks or where to get them cheap?

That's all for this week friends! Make sure you check in with Lauren's blog for your own H5FF and enter Ruthy's giveaway!

Sponsors: Part 2!

I felt absolutely awful that I left out some absolutely great sponsors this Tuesday!
These girls have been with me since the beginning of my little blog, and are probably some of my favorite bloggers out there. Make sure you check them out!

Hi! My name is Paige, I am currently 1 week away from finishing up my master's degree in Anthropology (hence the shop/blog name) at Louisiana State University. I originally started crafting as a way to avoid homework and stress...  but then started an Etsy shop, which I then started blogging about to create a "fan base"... really now I just like blogging and getting to meet all kinds of fun characters, like Miss Kara here! But anywhoo, I think that's me in a nut-shell? Questions, comments and concerns can be directed to my email.

Hey! My name is Kara, and I'm a 20- something just starting out in the blogging world! (I’m really loving it!) I was born in Idaho, have lived up and down the coast of California, but feel most at home in the Bay Area. It’s where I went to college, work, and most importantly where I spend time with my wonderful family and friends. I
love fashion, interior design, bad reality TV, bright colors, neutrals, rom-coms, animals, Kristin Wiig and Keri Russell (just to name a few things!) I’ve come to a place in my life where I’m learning to love the little things and take in every moment. I am constantly reminded of how lucky of a girl I am. I find time for gratitude everyday.
Styled With Life is a “lifestyle blog” where I share my love of fashion, interior design and products I’ve come across. I also love to share tidbits of my life, work, family and friends. I’d love for you to stop by, and maybe even stay awhile! I look forward to meeting you!

Hi, I'm Kati, and I blog over at Incorporating Color. I'm a 2012
college graduate who's moving from Illinois, where I've been for the
last four years, to Nebraska to teach middle school reading. I love
Jesus, road trips, reading for fun, and 90s music. I started blogging
because I realized pretty much all areas of my life were lacking in
figurative and literal color, and I figured blogging would keep me
accountable for adding some color and excitement to it!

Hi, I'm Kate and I blog over at Classy Living!  I'm a twenty-something aspiring elementary school teacher, striving to live classily as I transition to the real world from life as a college student.  I love Jesus, teaching ZUMBA, reading good books, spending time at the beach, and baking gluten-free goodies.  This next chapter of life will definitely be an adventure - join me as I document this exciting new journey! :)

Hello!
First I want to start by thanking Kara for swapping with me this month- isn't she great!!

I am Liz! I started blogging just a few days before New Year's and since starting my blog I have had the opportunity to meet many wonderful ladies, increased my tech/internet skills (WOW! I know!) and really found my passion for writing, trying new things and just finding happiness in the simple things.
I am 22 years old and got married last May- our first anniversary is/was May 14th!!! I am spent the last 8 months studying to become a teacher and now I have been unleashed to the real world of grown ups!  I hope to be a high school French/History teacher.  I live in a small town called Spencerville (population 500) in Ontario, Canada.
I enjoy cooking and baking, crocheting, Pinterest (maybe a little too much...), reading, running and of course- blogging!
Meeting new people is the best part of blogging so please drop on over to my blog and say hello!!
